What kit do you need for Free Boxing?
Clothing, gloves, headguard, shin guards: the full list for getting started and then competing in Free Boxing.

Good news: for your first class, sportswear is all you need. The kit comes later, as you progress.
What to wear
A gi jacket, with or without sleeves, and fight shorts. The jacket is used for grips and throws: lightweight for strikers, reinforced for grapplers.
Protective gear
- Open-finger gloves, MMA sparring style, so you can grip.
- Headguard with visor.
- Gum shield.
- Shin guards with instep protection.
- Groin guard.
This protective gear is compulsory in competition. In training, it becomes essential from your very first sparring bouts.
Choosing the right gloves
Not all gloves are suitable: you need open fingers and enough padding for sparring. Ask your instructor for the list of approved models.
Clubs: the Academy makes jackets, shorts, gloves and protective gear in your colours. See Kit out your club.
